So how much +damage on weapon does Rhino REALLY need to be even with Chroma? This is where it gets interesting. So what does this mean?Ĭhroma will STILL do more damage than Rhino with a +120% damage Riven. As for the Riven, Chroma can look for a cheaper +CD +CC +elemental damage one instead of the more expensive +CD +CC +Damage one.

However Chroma can just put 3 extra +90% elemental mods into his weapon. So when using Rhino, you stick these 3 mods in your weapon to boost the damage.

See, Serration/Heavy Calibur/Riven mods aren't free, they take up mod slots. To summarize, you need a Riven with +120% Damage to make Rhino's Roar better than Chroma's Vex Armor.īut wait! There's more! (This is what I meant earlier when I said it wasn't quite true) So baseline we have +330% damage, which means you'll need a +120% damage minimum on a Riven to be at the 450% breakpoint. So let's count the + damage mods we have available on snipers, which is what everyone's interested in anyways for eidolons. What this also means is that if you have less than +450% damage total from mods on any weapon, Chroma will boost the damage more.

(This is actually not quite true, but I will tell you about this in a bit) At 450% total +damage from mods on any weapon, Vex Armor and Roar will affect the damage output exactly the same. In fact, I can even tell you that 450% is the break even point, which you can verify for yourself if you want. Yes I understand the way the separate buffs work, the more straight damage % mods on weapons the better Rhino's roar is. This (Edit: That) whole post is based on adding more straight +damage % mods on weapons. There is a diminishing return because of the math on Vex which is why you don't get the UI value as your expected damage value. However the more +damage mods you put on your weapons, the closer Roar gets to Vex. Under the assumption of equal power strength and no mods, Chroma will always come out on top. Why is that important? It means that Rhino is more affected by modding. Roar is Multiplicative while Vex is Additive to base. The important detail about the particular subject is that the math that is behind the two abilities is different.

I am not going to download your excel but are you just tracking buff strength in relation to power strength? I am not sure if the threads you've looked through are confused about the relationship between Rhino and Chroma or if it is you. Right, de? Is this what you intended for them to be? Oh well just look at the difficulty of acquiring the two frames and the psuedo-mr lock on one of them. One can assume that Chroma is pretty much a newbie frame because only the newbs are the one without high rank +dmg mods and/or rivens while Rhino is more catered toward endgame players because they'll have everything needed to push him past Chroma. Chroma is always better for weapons with low +dmg bonus and Rhino is always better with high +dmg. Rhino - 3.99*7.8 = 31.12x - you may notice that fig2 rhino deals just about 21% more damage but it's 28% more here with higher strength. Now it's roughly only 17% more than without riven.

See now? Chroma just falls short when +dmg riven comes into play.Īnd, just for science, fig3 - doubled pwr strength from fissure Without any buff that'd be 4.3+3.5 = 7.8x Serration, Heavy Caliber, 350% damage riven So with only the basic mods, Chroma actually comes out a lil bit ahead but it's only 16% ahead at weapon damage though. Here - have a very simple math about Chroma vs Rhino damage buffĮxample gun 1 with Serration, Heavy Caliber, other mods I pretty much dont have to care about.
